Rising Seas in San Francisco and Manila

An article for environmental and climate by New York Times explains over the current occurring problem of sea levels rising in both San Francisco, California, and Manila in the Philippines. This situation is very dire for many people that live near the coast when most of their belongings and place could possibly be claimed by the rising sea levels and be lost in due time. Much of the decisions put out from the place made it tough for people living there with Manila allowing groundwater to be pumped out by giving way to more sea level rise and building in San Francisco to be built near the water edge from airports and homes. The article goes into detail of people’s lives that deal with this everyday problem of facing sea level rising and how they go about it. Everybody works together in trying to prevent the water from reaching their households in building up walls and doing other sorts of methods or other would leave their place and try to find new ones. Climate change makes the process of sea level rising worse when the expected oceans to rise one to four feet by the end of this century. Not only that, but storms or any kind of environmental weather can speed up the process which will damage the people living there. I feel that it’s important to bring this article up because how our planet is rapidly changing these recent years and it could likely change for the worse. (250)
