Endangered Species
In our world, many species can face lots of unexpected circumstances that can affect their life and that their own kind can start to drop in numbers and can be seen as a problem for the environment, other species, and to us as well. I wanted focus on bee species concerning on a type of bumblebee kind such as the “Crotch Bumble” (Bombus crotchii). It’s not entirely put out as an endangered species but they are put as an SC for “State Candidate for Listing”. The meaning behind that is that they have collected information and the status on this species and can likely put them under a threatened/endangered listing under the ESA (Endangered Species Act). Seeing how its listed by the State instead of the Federal Government, it would likely be under the protection from the state. Like most bees/bumblebees, they are also pollinators and that they pollinate the very food that we have to create like blueberries and many more. Not only that, but they visit milkweeds and are important pollinators to these plants for western monarch butterflies because they require that as food and these species are also under the same influence of being endangered/threatened without having the plants being pollinated. Many of these bees/bumblebees are required for us to sustain our food and that it will be bad if we lost a species like this which can impact our population and many others. (241)
